De ribfluwelen, oranje wandbank loopt naadloos over in de ovalen raambank en het restaurantgedeelte heeft de langste eettafel uit de Utrechtse geschiedenis. In het met een cartoonesk interieur verblijde Vermeulen, net buiten het centrum richting Rivierenwijk, kun je op café- én op restaurantniveau consumeren. En dat resulteert in een nogal ondoorgrondelijke hoeveelheid verschillende menukaarten, voor wisselende delen van de dag en van het etablissement. Zo bestel je aan de vierkante, witte tafeltjes in het restaurant gebakken zeebaars met risotto, quenelle van bleekselderie en saffraanschuim. In het café opteer je voor kipsaté met atjar, kroepoek en frites en laat je tussen de middag de oplettende bediening een uitsmijter of omelet op de ronde tafeltjes neerzetten. Zo divers hebben we het maar zelden in een en dezelfde zaak gegeten. Desondanks een prima plek voor een zakenafspraak.
